There’s a difference between taking a side door into an opportunity and gaming the system. Just what that difference is and why it matters is what we want to talk about in this episode.
Why is that important for business?
Some marketing can feel a little extra…gross. But working to get a seat at the table feels a lot different than gaming the system to create the illusion of a seat, or a title or a reward. It’s the difference between hustle and manipulation. And it’s a recipe for Imposter Syndrome.
On the other hand, there is a point when a fierce commitment to integrity can keep you from doing the things you need to do to get you where you want to be.
This is where it is important to embrace the side door and look for an opportunity to be judged on your own merits.
